Trowbridge Town Hall now open

The Grade II listed Town Hall in Trowbridge has undergone extensive restoration works since 2023. Opened in 1889 “for the benefit of the inhabitants of the town forever”, the Town Hall first housed a library, courts and holding cells, along with a remarkable ballroom. Now run by the Trowbridge Town Hall Trust, the Hall has been brought to a new life as a state-of-the-art venue for music and the arts.

We were appointed to help with this new vision for the Hall; the 18-month programme of restoration and remodelling maximised its capacity to host large cultural and social events, and to become a pivotal asset for the town. In particular, the programme achieved the restoration of the Great Ballroom; the transformation of the old Magistrates Court into a performance space; the refurbishment of basement cells into seven recording studios; the creation of a new art gallery; the installation of a new sprung floor in the Park View Room; and the opening out of the foyer for local people and visitors. The project also reached excellent results in fire testing and conservation regulations.

The ground floor and café are now open, with the first floor set to open to the public in the new year.
