Sherborne House and Trowbridge Town Hall Shortlisted for the RICS Awards 2026
Sherborne House has been shortlisted in the Community Benefit, Heritage and Refurbishment/Revitalisation categories, while Trowbridge Town Hall was selected in the Heritage category for the RICS Awards 2026.
We were involved alongside Spase Design and Stonewood Builders to restore and refurbish Sherborne House into a thriving cultural hub. After extensive structural interventions spanning bespoke fabric repairs, improved circulation, floor strengthening, a new drainage network, and respectful enhancements of the historic landscape, the House now welcomes the Dorset Visual Arts Trust and offers a range of events throughout the year. Beyond our conservation works, we designed glulam frames for the new pavilion extension which now houses a large meeting room and bar.
Trowbridge Town Hall required in-depth conservation work as well to be refurbished into a state-of-the-art venue for music and the arts. Delivered with Purcell, the programme achieved the restoration of the Great Ballroom, the transformation of the old Magistrates Court into a performance space, the refurbishment of basement cells into seven recording studios, the creation of a new art gallery, the installation of a new sprung floor in the Park View Room, and the opening out of the foyer for local people and visitors.
We are delighted to see these two projects shortlisted for the RICS Awards, whose listed entries "represent the very best of the built and natural environment across the UK, showcasing outstanding people, projects and organisations making a real impact in their communities." The projects will represent the South West in their respective categories at a regional event on July 23rd, after which the national ceremony will crown the overall victors on October 22nd.
