Assizes for Devizes Reaches Major Milestone
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded £8.5 million towards the £14.8 million Assizes for Devizes project, which will turn the old Assize Court into a vibrant new home for the Wiltshire Museum.
Wiltshire Council granted Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent back in August 2025. Since then, we have worked alongside the team led by Purcell to deliver drainage surveys and design while developing a deep understanding of the repairs needed by the Grade II* listed building. We worked closely with planning bodies and canal trusts to make sure the proposed drainage works complied with environmental requirements.
Going forward, the redevelopment plans will ensure the restoration of the Court into multiple exhibition spaces, the creation of new, accessible facilities throughout the museum, the opening of a café, and the arrangement of an outdoor space for community projects and events.
